In the construction of ground-mounted photovoltaic power plant, the choice of foundation type directly determines system safety, construction duration, and long-term operational and maintenance costs. The two mainstream solutions currently are Independent Base and Composite Base.

Independent Base

Definition: The solar bracket and concrete base are prefabricated separately and connected on-site via bolts.

Main Types:

Embedded Bolt Type: Most common; the bracket connects directly to bolts embedded in the base for quick installation.

Integrally Cast Type: The bracket is poured simultaneously with the concrete, offering the highest strength but requiring on-site assembly.

Embedded Groove Type: The bracket is directly pressed into a concrete groove, eliminating the need for additional fastening.

Core Advantages: Flexible construction, easy height adjustment, and relatively low cost.

Suitable Scenarios: Projects in areas with standard wind loads, tight schedules, and roof structures permitting drilling.

Composite Base

Definition: Braces are cast integrally with concrete tie beams or rigidly connected via specialized tie beams.

Core Advantages: Exceptional overturning resistance, superior structural integrity, ideal for high wind pressure/heavy snow regions.

Applicable Scenarios: Coastal typhoon zones, high-altitude snow accumulation areas, projects with stringent roof waterproofing requirements.

Although composite bases perform better in extreme environments, they also involve greater construction complexity and higher costs. If your project is located in a Class I lightning protection zone or an area with an average annual wind speed exceeding 25 m/s, it is strongly recommended to abandon inexpensive standalone base solutions and prioritize composite bases or integrated cast-in-place solutions.
