Madrid, Nov. 25 (Xinhua) -- The first China-Spain Green Energy Forum was held in Madrid, the capital of Spain, on the 25th. About 300 people from government departments, industry institutions and energy enterprises of the two countries discussed green energy cooperation and transformation.
Spanish Minister of Industry and Tourism Jordi Ereu delivered a speech, saying that over the past 20 years, the installed capacity of renewable energy in Spain has increased several times, and clean energy has become the main body of the national energy system. "We look forward to the forum opening up new space for green energy cooperation between Spain and China, building more consensus, and promoting enterprises to seize new development opportunities."
Ambassador Yao Jing of the People's Republic of China to Spain stated that green development is a distinct feature of China's modernization. China has announced a new round of nationally determined contributions targets, setting the direction for green energy cooperation over the next 10 years. Spain has become a leader in green energy in Europe, and there is huge potential for cooperation between enterprises of the two countries in areas such as energy storage, electric vehicles, and hydrogen energy.
Jaime Peris, the special representative of the Spanish Ministry of Industry and Tourism, believes that China is a key partner of Spain in the zero-carbon industry and the global market. This forum reflects the common determination of both sides to further strengthen practical cooperation and tap potential during the critical period of energy transition.
Jose Donoso, the director general of the Spanish Photovoltaic Alliance, said that Spain and China have a high degree of complementarity in the field of renewable energy, providing a solid foundation for deepening cooperation between the two sides.
This year marks the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Spain. During this forum, participants from both sides held multiple roundtable discussions on topics such as power grid safety, artificial intelligence empowering energy systems, green finance and investment opportunities, sharing practical experiences and exploring directions for deepening cooperation.
